 Ison Iron is a newly established, locally owned and focused motorcycle fabrication and repair business based in Tarneit (near Hoppers Crossing). Ison Iron came about from Brett’s love of motorbikes and metal work, Brett decided it was time to go it alone in the real world and work on things he has loved his whole life… Instead of things just to pay the bills.
Brett Ison, owner of Ison iron, is a fully qualified AME -Structures (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures) and has over 20 years combined service, working with both Ansett and Qantas as an AME-Structures in engineering, sheet metal and composite fabrication/repair and has been modifying/repairing his own motorcycles since he was the age of 10. Brett’s qualifications as a AME (Structures) enables him to perform quite a diverse range of works such as maintaining and repairing sheet metal, bonding and non-metallic composite material and components. Working with Qantas and Ansett has helped Brett become familiar with frame, engine and electrical components. Working on everything from caribou's and bell204's, right up to the latest carbon fibre miracle, Boeing 787.
In the aircraft industry Brett has worked on a large range of aircraft types (B737,767,727,707,A320, Bae146, Fokker, Sikorsky, Bell, Caribou, and F111) as well as a large range of skills in the structures field, such as Composites, Sheet Metal, Life Support Equip, Technical Services etc..
Brett’s been coordinating projects for Helitech, e.g. Chinook a ballistic floor panel manufacture of four sets used in the conflict in Iraq, as well as composite repairs for Virgin Blue. His role as composite technician required him to liaise with Virgin Blue management, technical staff as well as engineers on the floor. Brett’s able to interpret the repair requirements.
So as you can see Ison Iron has all the skills & expertise to cater for all brands and types of bikes, big and small and everything from minor servicing to full rebuild/restore and kustomisation, carrying out Kustom Sheet Metal fabrication on motorcycles and hotrods.
